ePac Partners with CNG and Presto to Launch Sustainable Child Resistant Pouch Line

ePac Flexible Packaging, the innovative frontrunner in digitally printed flexible packaging, partnered with Charter Next Generation and Presto to develop a new Certified Child Resistant (CR) Resealable pouch made using post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials. This solution has passed all applicable child-resistant protocols and is fully certified to comply with the Federal Poison Prevention Act, Title CF / 16 Part 1700.

The CR certified pouch utilizes CNG’s GreenArrow™ family of sustainable films, a portfolio of films designed to power a new generation of flexible packaging built with a sustainability-first mindset.  The pouch features a high-performance sealant film utilizing post-consumer recycled polyethylene resins which are certified for direct food contact. Through leveraging post-consumer recycled materials, this line of sustainable pouches will have a 20% lower carbon footprint, use 25% less water, and 30% less fossil fuels.

“ePac, Presto, and Charter Next Generation have a shared commitment to bringing innovative sustainable packaging solutions to brands of all sizes. The development of a high content PCR pouch approved for markets requiring child-resistant packaging is a key milestone in our collective journey for a world where sustainability and packaging performance no longer have to be a trade-off”, Doug Latreille, Chief Commercial Officer.

Charter Next Generation has been actively developing and promoting film solutions using PCR for several years.  In 2019, Charter was awarded the SPC Innovator award for launching one of the first film solutions in food packaging using post-consumer materials approved for direct food contact.
