MILTON, WI –  November 21, 2019 – Charter NEX Films, North America’s leading independent producer of specialty films, proudly announces they have joined the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, a global alliance with now over 40 companies with the common mission of putting an end to plastic waste in the environment.

Launched in January 2019, the Alliance brings member companies which make, use, process, sell, collect, and recycle plastics and their collective expertise and global reach to take a multi-faceted approach to addressing the breadth of the plastic waste challenge.  Member companies have committed over $1 Billion with the goal of investing over $1.5 Billion in infrastructure, technology, education, and clean-up efforts over the next five years.

“Joining the Alliance enables Charter NEX to magnify our impact and leverage our expertise in markets such as flexible packaging on a global platform to create new end-of-life solutions for plastic waste,” said Kathy Bolhous, CEO of Charter NEX Films.

“Charter NEX has been a highly active and engaged member of the sustainable packaging community in North America.  As a member of the Alliance, we look forward to elevating this commitment and to accelerate the work of companies, technologies, and communities working to address the issue of plastic waste in the environment,” said Scott Hammer, Corporate Sustainability Leader for Charter NEX.

Charter NEX has been actively partnering with customers to develop flexible packaging platforms which are recyclable, increase the usage of recycled content (PCR), and/or incorporate the usage of materials made from renewable resources through its award-winning platform of sustainable films called GreenArrow™.  In 2019, Charter NEX was awarded a silver medal and ranked in the top 11% of companies evaluated through EcoVadis, a platform used to evaluate the sustainability performance of suppliers.  In 2020, Charter NEX will plan to increase the number of its facilities which are Zero Waste to Landfill as well as launch several compelling recyclable film technologies.  Sustainability and sustainable manufacturing are core to the company’s mission of always being in pursuit of finding “A Better Way”.
