Charter Next Generation’s Superior, Wisconsin Facility Receives ISCC PLUS Certification for the Production of Sustainable Films

MILTON, WI (September 24, 2021) – Charter Next Generation (CNG), North America’s leading independent producer of specialty films, is proud to announce that our Superior, Wisconsin location has received the International Sustainability and Carbon Certificate (ISCC), one of the first blown film plants in the United States to receive this prestigious certification.  CNG received the ISCC PLUS certification through SCS Global Services, one of the leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification companies.

“ISCC PLUS certification is a critical step in positioning our company to serve the needs of the New Plastics Economy”, said Kathy Bolhous, Chief Executive Officer of CNG.  ISCC PLUS is a supply chain certification for circular materials, both recycled and/or bio-based, providing traceability along the supply chain.

“CNG is committed to bringing leading edge sustainable solutions to the market.  These certified circular materials enable us to bring a sustainable solution to markets where virgin-like performance is critical”, said Scott Hammer, Director of Corporate Sustainability for CNG.

ISCC PLUS Certification validates the “mass balance system” utilized in the supply chain which tracks the quantity and source of circular and/or bio-based material throughout the value chain. Traceability and transparency are key to achieving certification. The certification allows CNG’s customers to certify the usage of mass balance materials in their films.

CNG plans to offer film solutions using these certified circular materials as a part of its GreenArrow™ family of sustainable films, built to reinvent packaging with a sustainability-first mindset.
